Ctrl-click and now the position of the mouse controls how fast the audio plays. The nearer the cursor the slower it plays, the further away the faster. The speed can change as you move the mouse. Scrubbing is mainly used to find your position in the audio quickly. Some people will like it, but it shouldn't "get in the way" for people who don't use it.
